Strategic Policy Committees
Strategic Policy Committees (SPCs) are committees which are made up of elected members (Councillors) and Representatives from areas like social inclusion, economic, community, and environmental sectors, that develop, and review policies related to Council services. Each SPC member holds office for the lifetime of the Council (normally five years).
Wexford PPN plays an important role here in nominating Representatives from our member groups to represent the PPN at the policy table.
Underpinning the SPC process is a desire to strengthen the electoral mandate within Local Government. It gives Councillors and relevant sectoral interests an opportunity for full involvement in the policy-making process from the earliest stages.
