Affordable Housing Survey

Wexford County Council is launching an online survey for people who feel they may be eligible to acquire or rent an affordable home from the council. The survey will help in determining the level of interest in affordable housing purchase and cost rental.

The information will be used to inform the Council on the level of demand and locations for affordable houses and the house prices that people can afford.

Annual Online Gathering of Community Growers

Next month, Community Gardens Ireland & Social Farms & Gardens Northern Ireland are together organising our 3rd annual online gathering and forum! The event starts at 11am on Saturday 2nd March.

This free event takes place online and will include speakers from allotments, community gardens & groups across Ireland.

SunSmart Sunscreen Dispenser Pilot 2024

Healthy Wexford have asked us to let you know of the opportunity from the HSE’s National Cancer Control Programme (NCCP) to take part in a SunSmart Sunscreen Dispenser Pilot in 2024.  A number of community groups involved in outdoor leisure activities have the opportunity to trial the unit from May to the end of August. Healthy Food Made Easy Expression of Interest 2024

South East Healthy Food Made Easy is now open to accepting Expressions of interest to host Healthy Food Made Easy Programmes for 2024. Closing Date Wednesday 28th Feb .

The HFME programme offers a basic nutrition and cookery course that helps people switch to a healthier diet, plan meals on a budget and create easy to cook meals.  The course content is based on the most up-to-date healthy eating guidelines from the Department of Health in Ireland. It is a national programme.

Course Content includes:

Session 1– ‘Building a Food Pyramid’ (introducing healthy eating guidelines)

Session 2– ‘The Fibre Providers’ (Fibre in cereals, fruit & vegetables)

Session 3– ‘Focus on Fats’ (learning about the good & bad fats)

Session 4– ‘Food for Life’ (family eating, children’s diets)

Session 5– ‘Shop Smart’ (Shopping on a budget, food labelling)

Session 6– ‘The Road Ahead’ (planning long term changes in eating habits)

Improving Your Nonprofit’s Annual Report

Carmichael is delighted to provide this free training webinar.

In this webinar nonprofits of all sizes will gain tips and advice from an expert panel on how to improve the content and narrative of their Annual Report.

The webinar takes place on February 27th 2024 from 10.05-10.55.

Edible Gardens Webinar

Edible Towns Network will host an information webinar on how to start an edible garden in your community on 24th February, 4.00pm to 5.00pm via Zoom.

Information will be delivered on funding on maintenance and you can register for the event by emailing edibletownsnetwork@gmail.com

Call for Expressions of Interest for 2024-2025 SDG Champions Programme

The Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications is now seeking Expressions of Interest for participants in the 2024-2025 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Champions Programme.

Established in 2019, the SDG Champions Programme is a non-funded programme, developed to raise public awareness of the SDGs.

All Expressions of Interest must be received by 5pm, Monday 1 April, 2024.

Resilience Training For Community Leaders

Healthy Wexford are offering this course to community leaders across County Wexford. The learning and concepts of the programme using the CBT approach provides an invaluable skillset to share with the wider communities, in their homes, clubs etc.

The course takes place on 6th March 202,10am to 5pm at County Hall, Carricklawn, Wexford.

The LGBT+ Helpline (Freephone 1800 929 539) is available 7 days a week with trained volunteers ready to listen. Our Helpline is available: Monday to Thursday: 6:30pm to 10:00pm, Fridays: 4:00pm to 10:00pm and Weekends: 4:00pm to 6:00pm.

Cycle Against Suicide Mental Health Peer Support (Buddy) Training

Our training in Mental Health Peer-Support creates a compassionate network within a club and a community. Our training transcends traditional boundaries, breaking down the stigma associated with mental health discussions. The benefits are profound and far-reaching. Trained peer-supporters are attuned to subtle shifts in their community’s well-being. This heightened awareness fosters a culture of genuine care and concern.
