Public Consultation on the future of the European Union’s Cohesion Policy

The Minister for Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery and Reform, Paschal Donohoe, has launched Ireland’s public consultation on the future of the European Union’s Cohesion Policy.

Cohesion Policy constitutes the main investment policy of the EU, and is due to account for around a third of its budget, or EUR 392 billion over the period of 2021-2027. Cohesion Policy is designed to contribute to strengthening economic, social and territorial cohesion in the European Union. It aims to correct imbalances between countries and regions. It delivers on the Union’s political priorities, especially the green and digital transition.

National Social Enterprise Policy for Ireland

The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, has launched a public consultation for the Government’s second National Social Enterprise Policy for Ireland.

The main purpose of the consultation is to seek the views of all interested parties on the content of the next National Social Enterprise Policy for Ireland.

Events

Women for Election

Wexford County Council are hosting a Women for Election introductory session on Wednesday 31st January 2024 at 6.30 p.m. in the Council Chamber, Wexford County Council, Carricklawn, Wexford, Y35 WY93.

The purpose of this event is to support women who are interested in running for election in 2024 or in future elections. The event reflects the Council’s investment in increasing the involvement of women in local politics and elections as part of part the national programme to achieve gender balance.

Taghmon Action Group – Indoor Market

Indoor Market starts in TAG (Y35C2DE) the 2nd Saturday of every month from Feb 10th 9.30am-3pm.

Tables are €15 each or €20 for a larger table. Tea/coffee/snacks available to purchase on the day.

Sell your Woodcraft, Baking, Arts & Crafts, Sewing/knitting, Tools, Bric a Brac, unwanted gifts whatever you have to sell. Limited tables available & must be booked in advance, one weeks notice required each month for a table.

Creative Communities – Open Call

The Arts Department of Wexford County Council are delighted to announce that the Creative Communities Programme is now open to all community groups that are members of Wexford PPN and/ or well as communities of place and interest, that are interested in working on an arts project with an artist from our Creative Communities Artists Panel (projects must be completed by 14th December 2024).

The maximum award is €3,000 in match-funding. This artist’s panel comprises of over 20 professional artists based in county Wexford who work in a wide variety of art forms from visual arts, music, dance, street arts, literature and drama and have experience of engaging with communities.

Applications must be emailed to arts@wexfordcoco.ie by Friday 1st March on or before 4.00pm.

Bealtaine Hero Award

The call for applications to the Bealtaine Hero Award is open to local, community based groups (or individuals) who wish to submit proposals for an event that offers an ambitious, creative and experimental invitation to their community this May, and that celebrates the spirit of the festival. All art forms and event types will be considered, however non-arts events will not be considered (please see guidelines for examples of arts and non-arts events).

Two awards of €500 will be made to the two successful applicants.

Deadline: 5pm, Friday February 19th, 2024.

Workshops

PPN Grant Writing Workshop

Wexford PPN will be hosting another free Grant Writing workshop with Dr.Yvonne Byrne on 7th February at 7.30pm. Further details will be issued closer to the date, but content will be similar to the workshop previously delivered in November. This workshop will be delivered online.

Future Board Leaders – 2024 Training & Placement Programme

FBL is a programme co-designed by Board Match and The Leadership Academy which aims to bring new and diverse voices to Irish charity boards.

Boardmatch use their extensive network and expertise to identify a number of suitable organisations looking to make real change to their organisations through diversifying their boards.

The Leadership Academy will recruits people interested in joining a Board as a charity trustee.

Digital Help Hub

The Digital Help Hub invites all adults who need help to use their phones, tablet, laptop better and to use the device to assist them in their everyday life – email, shopping, library services, banking, health services, travel etc.

It is a free service. The person can drop into the relevant library on the dates attached or they can phone to make an appointment with one of the 2 IT tutors. The phone number is 089 9843815.

Energise Your Community – SEC Webinar

As part of the Sustainable Energy Communities (SEC) Programme, the South East Energy Agency is delighted to announce our webinar for groups interested in joining the SEC programme. This webinar is directed at community groups in the South East, as well as any interested parties and stakeholders.

This online webinar takes place on February 21st, 7.30pm – 8.30pm.

Community Climate Action Programme – NOW OPEN!
The Community Climate Action Programme is now open and will close for applications on 6th March 2024. Now is the time to start planning for making an application so please contact Clinton Donovan, Community Climate Action Officer at 087-2139870 or email climateaction@wexfordcoco.ie

Funding of up to 100% of the cost of a climate action project is available through this scheme, up to a maximum of €100,000. Project examples could be insulation of community buildings, solar panels, bicycle parking, rainwater harvesting, community gardens / allotments, etc.
