I am the administrator for the LEAF 2026 fund.

It's the local Environmental action Fund.

It's the first year that this has been rolled out.

OK, So what is LEAF?

It's the Local Environment Action Funds 2026.

It's a pilot program and it's funded by the IPB, which is the Irish public bodies insurer.

The the IPB actually insurer Wexford County Council and all local authorities.

So they've got their centenary in the next this year and they're celebrating it by funding in part the LEAF Fund, which is also then supported by Wexford County Council.

So the IPB is providing €50,000 for Wexford and Wexford County Council is much funding that with an additional 50,000.

So the total budget for County Wexford alone is 100,000.

The, the fund is also supported by the CCMA and it's administered through Wexford County Council by the Community Development Department here.

So it's, it's myself and the team and we'll talk a little more about that later.

So what is the fund about?

So the fund ethos, the strap line is communities working together for climate.

So what does that mean to you?

It means that they wish to support the sustainability aims of local community that projects that are involved in climate action, biodiversity and environmental enhancement outcomes or projects.

It also encourages collaboration between the core applicants which they intend to be Tidy Towns, residents associations, environmental groups or similar groups who have a climate action and environmental ethos for those groups to lead on the projects, but to partner and work with other local voluntary groups and community stakeholders to promote greener communities in their local areas.

So it's it's about the core group, the tiny towns being a vehicle for other community based groups who have maybe a community ethos to work in partnership with them to deliver on some of the target greener communities.

So communities working together for time, it means that in terms of an application, what we require is for the lead applicants to be either a tiny towns group, A residents association, a local environment group or local eco group and whose core kind of ethos is environmentalism, ecology and climate action, that kind of thing.

To partner with a second applicant on their application, which is the likes of a local school, a Sports Club, a community group, youth clubs, the ICA community sheds, heritage groups, all the the kind of standards, voluntary groups that we find in communities who don't necessarily have their main focus as the environment or ecology.

But we're trying to have them kind of start to think about these issues and get involved in these issues in their local community.

So that that's kind of the, the kind of vision behind this funding.
